The Cape May Kiwanis commitment to working with
the youth of the community supporting scholarships for
graduating high school seniors is a primary and key commitment
for the club.
According to our website history, on January 17, 1924, this
fledgling group of Kiwanians held its first luncheon meeting
with 57 members at the Focer & Mecray Building. Kiwanis District
Governor Robert Rendall of Jersey City presented the Charter to
the Club.
The new service club had a splendid first year. They provided
their first Kiwanis Scholarship of $100, to the most valuable
member of the graduating class of Cape May High School.
This year, the members of the 2023 Scholarship Committee are:
Chairperson, Patricia Gray Hendricks along with: Jim Ford; Jim
Fraatz; Evelyn Lovitz; Eileen Olesiak-Hall; and Paulette
Platukis.
The Scholarship Committee worked diligently throughout the
school year, providing a streamlined scholarship opportunity to
our participating schools. Collectively, each member’s strengths
create a strong cohort.

Mrs. Hendricks said. “The students’ service, awards, and volunteer work
is outstanding”.
“Our KCCM club members enthusiastically contribute personal time and
